Under Two’s

During the month of September the under Two’s have been exploring and investigating the theme of Transport. The children have been exploring vehicles in a variety of sensory trays, looking at and talking about the marks left behind from the tyres. The children also enjoyed have a go at making marks with cars on paper. With Autumn here, we have been exploring the changes the season has brought, venturing on nature walks on the nursery grounds where we have collected an array of natural items. We have also created our own Autumn tree’s using our hand-prints and added some finger painting to them to create our leaves.

Big Toddlers

This month the children have been learning about emotions, talking about what makes us happy or sad. We have also enjoyed our core story “The Rainbow fish”, a great story to discuss feelings and the importance of sharing. The children have enjoyed taking part in creative Rainbow Fish activities, and a favourite included using celery sticks to create the fish scales. We have also been on a nature walk around the gardens to find all different types of leaves and acorns. The children really enjoyed this joining in with their friends to find the biggest twig or acorn and talking about the different things we can see, smell and feel in the autumn term.

Preschool

In Preschool we have been enjoying our current “All About Me” theme. The children have been looking at their facial features, and talking about things that are similar and things that are similar to their friends. We have been busy making self-portraits with use of mirrors and a range of mark-making items such as play-dough, painting and even during cooking club where we decorated our faces on biscuits. We have also been getting used to using the self-registration board, finding our names and “signing ourselves in” when we arrive at Blackberries.
