During October our Under Two’s have been learning about wild animals. They have been busy playing with and exploring the animals in a variety of ways; they have created patterned collages with animal prints, used the toy animals to create marks and prints on foil and role played with the animals in sensory based play trays.
Their Core story this month has been Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
As part of “working with parents” parents have helped their Little one’s to create some lovely wild animal masks, from Roaring lions to Cheeky monkeys.

Our Toddler’s theme for October has centred around Farm animals. They have made handprint hens, paper plate animal faces and cereal based sensory trays for the children to explore with the farm animals.
Toddler’s Core Story of the month has been Hens Don’t Cry by A H Benjamin.
The Preschool children have been talking about their emotions and what makes them happy, scared and sad, they have been re-enacting the Gruffalo story with puppets in a play tray and the children even had a go at making “Gruffalo Crumble” in Cookery Club.
Our Pre-schoolers Core story of the month was The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. This has been a firm favourite with all the children.

Our Pre-schoolers have also been learning how to support and care for the wildlife around them, when they found a Hedgehog in the garden. They gave him some food and water and kept him warm, before taking him to the vets to get him checked over. They named him Mr Prickle-Pants.
