Wisbech Nursery March 2020

Throughout March, our babies and Toddlers have been learning all about Spring/Flowers, they have been exploring our outdoor environments and using natural materials throughout play, bringing the outdoors, in. They have also used their colour skills from last month within our new Spring topic.

Their Core stories for this month have Mouse’s First Spring. The children have enjoyed joining in with the stories, as well as learning all about Spring and flowers.

Our young children have had fun going on Nature Walks around our gardens, collecting natural materials to create beautiful flower artwork, using paint.

They have also been using their senses to explore flowers in the sensory tray. The children were encouraged to touch and smell the flowers, encouraging communication and language skills through naming the colours of the flowers.

Our Toddlers have been using their number skills to find the correct number of petals for their flowers. And in the forest, they have had great fun bug hunting!!

Our Preschool children have been learning all about Growing/Spring. Their Core story has been “A Very Busy Day” by Jill Murphy. This story links nicely with our theme of growing, the season of spring and also talks about how we can help others and be kind.

The Preschool children having been making natural sensory play dough, exploring different ingredients to add to their dough, creating different textures, smells and colours.

Our Pre-school children also had fun using their imaginations to explore and role-play in our Farm Shop. They discussed where the different fruits and vegetables come from. They discussed healthy eating, and the children took on different roles such as the customer, the farmer and the cashier. We look forward to taking a trip to the local farm shop.

Our children were extremely excited to create lovely Mother’s Day cards, and were proud to present them on Mother’s Day.

We hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

You can share our Core Stories through our Books for Bedtime scheme or you can access some of our activities through our “Have a go at home” scheme, encouraging the positive partnership in learning between nursery and home.

Please look out for our weekly learning packs during our closure! And we look forward to welcoming you back to our setting as soon as we can!
