Baby Unit:

This month we have been exploring the big foam blocks. The babies have shown a great interest in these and they have enjoyed building towers with them, but knocking them down was the best part of all. The babies also like to sit on the blocks and even climb on them. We have also had great fun exploring the tent and tunnel, where the babies really enjoyed playing hide and seek!

Little Toddlers:

The children have recently shown interest to a new story “This is the Bear”. It has been a keen favourite during our circle time, and some children have even shared this with peers independently. This story has helped to promote their speech copying simple phrases such as “oh dear” and “find my bear”. To bring out story to life we created a bus like in the story with the chairs and promoted lots of cooperative and imaginative play, singing along to “wheels on the bus” and taking our bears on a journey.

We have also got extra copies of the book so the children can now take this home and enjoy with their families.

Big Toddlers:

During one of our cooking club session this month, our Big Toddler’s had great fun preparing and making our treats for our Mummy’s for Mother’s Day. Working together we poured and mixed the ingredients to make delicious shortbread letters to spell out “Mum”. Children chose to also add flower or love heart shortbread. We discovered what great fun it was to making a flour cloud when they clapped their hands! The children were so excited to give their beautiful and yummy creations to their Mum’s when they came later that day!

Preschool:

This month the preschool children have been busy taking part in activities based on the theme of Spring. Our new Story Tree theme is “Jack and The Beanstalk”, which the children have shown a great interest in. We have brought our story to life by planting and caring for our very own beanstalks. We can’t wait to see how tall they will grow.

We have also been looking at the newly blossomed Spring flowers in the garden, and we decided to have a go at making our very own during our creative play.  The children talked about the shapes and colours that they would like use for their flowers and they independently cut out and glued them to the paper to create beautiful flowers.
