Throughout June our Babies and Little Toddler’s have been exploring Pets. Their Core Story for the month has been Peppa Pig’s First Pet.
They have shared photos of their pets from home, as part of working with parents as partners, they have used the large play animals in various sensory trays and used them to make prints and they have been busy making their own animal faces out of paper plates.
EYFS Link: Physical Development – Moving and Handling 8-20 mths – Enjoys the sensory experience of making marks in different materials and textures.
Fun fact: Cats headbutt people because they make them feel safe or they trust them.
Our Big Toddlers and Pre-schooler’s have been talking about Superheroes for their June topic. Their Core Story of the month has been Supertato by Sue Hendra.
They have been dressing up as their favourite Superheroes and rescuing others that are in “danger” by taking calls from the “Superhero Rescue Centre” and phoning through to the right Superhero from their special directory.
The children have also been busy designing their own Superhero capes and masks.
By using Supertato; the superhero in their small world activities; they have explored numeracy, sharing ideas and retelling stories through imaginative play.
EYFS Link: Expressive Arts and Design – Being Imaginative 30-50 mths – Engages in imaginative role-play and builds stories around toys.
