Under two’s

This month in the Baby and Little Toddler units we have been learning all about Zoo Animals, where we have been reading our core story “Dear Zoo”. The children have enjoyed exploring the small world zoo animals in many different types of sensory trays which have included paint, rice, lentils and oats as well as within play-dough where we explored mark-making. The children also enjoyed getting creative, using their hands and feet to create their very own zoo own animals. We have also celebrated a variety of events this month, including Chinese New Year, where the children enjoyed  exploring noodle sensory play and making paper lanterns.

Toddler 2

This month in the Big Toddler Unit we have enjoyed a variety of many fun filled activities. The children have been learning all about “People who help us”, and have enjoyed exploring our Doctors Surgery role play area, dressing up and taking care of our friends. The children have also shown a great interest in our home corner this month, and have been caring for our baby-dolls, changing nappies, feeding and even taking them for walks in our garden area. Outside the toddlers have had great fun using some of our sports equipment, including the football goals and basketball net, practising our throwing and kicking skills.

Preschool

In the Preschool unit this month the children have enjoyed exploring our Space theme, where we have been reading out core story “Whatever Next”. During our space theme we have been learning all about the different planets in our solar system, learning their names, colours and identifying them by size. We also got creative using papiermâché to create 3D planets that we painted and decorated. We have also been celebrating various events this month, including Chinese New Year and Shrove Tuesday, where the children had great fun making and flipping play-dough pancakes, and trying some traditional dishes for snack and meal times.
