Under Two’s
The month in the Under Two’s Units, we have been learning about nature in the world around us, and the children have particularly showed an interest in plants and flowers. The children have showed interest in learning how plants and flowers grow, and have been using the watering cans to hydrate the flowers and plants in the nature garden area. To tie in with this current interest, we have been including plants and flowers into our messy and creative play. The favourite activity seems to have been gloop play with real flowers and plants for the children to explore.
Toddlers
This month we have been getting busy in the nature garden, helping all the plants grow. The children have been learning about what plants need to grow, and we have seen that the warm and sunny days, the plants have needed lots of water to drink. We have also had the odd rainy day, where we have had splashingly good fun jumping in the puddles. The new weighing scales in our construction area have been great fun to experiment with, as we have been finding out what items are heavier and lighter.
Preschool
Over the past term we have been learning all about dinosaurs. We have been exploring the shapes and textures and how fossils are formed, and we have also been creating volcanoes using sand, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to make fizzy eruptions. Some other creative activities have included a recent interest in Trolls, where we used different paper types to create some funky hair styles.
As Sun Safe champions, we have been practising staying safe in the sun, and why it is so important to we look after ourselves in the warmer weather. We have done a great job at checking if our friends have remembered the sun cream and sun hats during outdoor play.
